My name is Kyung-Me and I am an artist and educator based in New York. Over the past five years, I've taught at RISD, PNCA, and NYU, working with students at the high school, undergraduate, and graduate levels.
Alongside this, I've mentored individuals ranging in age from sixteen to seventy, offering support tailored to each person's creative path. This is the first time I'm offering mentorships outside the institution.
Creative Mentorships
I'm currently offering one-on-one creative mentorship sessions online. Each session runs 45 to 60 minutes and can take place weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or just a few times a year — whatever suits you best.
What happens inside a session?
Each session is a space to look closely at your creative work. We begin by talking about what you're thinking, feeling, and making. From there, we begin to identify the recurring patterns, emotional undercurrents + unspoken questions that run through your creative life.
Together, we will explore the symbolic and psychological terrain beneath your work. We might look at an image you've made, a block you're facing, or a choice you keep returning to – and how these reflect your inner life.
Over time you will begin to see how the patterns in your work echo those in your life, revealing what's unresolved or in need of release. My role is to help you notice these signals and to listen to what they're asking for, so that you can move forward with greater clarity.
Sessions are shaped by where you are now and where you want to go. We can build a focused plan around a specific project, or slow down and feel out new directions.
Who are these sessions for?
These sessions are open to a wide range of people — working artists looking for direction, young students looking for guidance with their portfolios or anyone ready to lead a more creative life.
You do not need to identify as an artist to work with me. I also work with people who are seeking a creative outlet but are not sure where to begin. All that is needed is the willingness to use creative tools as a way of looking inward.
This service is also available to all creative types, not just visual artists. I very much enjoy working with poets, writers, filmmakers -- anyone with ideas they would like to expand upon.

I did an independent study project with Kyung-Me, where she has been more than just an art mentor to me. Her approach to creation has been so monumental in shaping how I ideate when it comes to creating art, but also how I perceive my life–down to a subconscious level, and its intersections in my artwork. I always felt that there was so much care she took into the personalization of my curriculum as well as in helping me navigate all aspects of being a professional artist. She was able to distill large concepts and struggles I had with my work (ex. rigidity, symbols that felt shallow, and art blocks) into actionable steps that are at once personal, intuitive, and approachable, and are practices I still carry to this day. Not to mention, her artwork in and of itself is so wonderful and mystifying to look at–there is so much technical aptitude, but there is also playfulness, experimentation, and a wealth of conceptual backbone which is so evident in the work itself and very much carries over to her mentorship. Technique is something that is always developed, but conceptualizing the world and encouraging experimentation is an entirely different skillset which Kyung-Me is able to break down so wonderfully.

One of the most meaningful and transformative experiences of my academic journey at RISD was the independent study with Kyung-Me. Unlike any conventional course, our sessions were collaborative explorations — thoughtful, intuitive exchanges where conversations naturally ebbed and flowed, unraveling deep unseen layers of my world. I created visual maps and graphs to better understand the emotions and narratives within my work, while reflecting on the music, video games, memories, and symbols that hold the greatest meaning to me as an artist. Kyung-Me’s approach is gentle yet incisive, blending creative practice with genuine care and perceptive insight. She guided me to view my art through both an emotional and analytical lens, helping emerging artists like me discover their voice and grow as more intentional, expressive storytellers.
